Spectacular and High Quality Japanese Meiji Cloisonne Predator and Prey Vase with White Osprey Eagle

  1. Beautiful, rare, and striking - a Japanese cloisonne Meiji era vase in round form with high, broad shoulders, a short neck with flared out mouth and body tapering in an inward curve to down to the narrow round base. The vase is copper with silver rims.

  2. The silver wire design wraps 360 degrees around the vase it uses the predator/prey theme and depicts a large Osprey eagle perched in a large pine tree. The pine tree grows up and around the vase diagonally, reaching the neck where the branches are splayed across the shoulders.. A vining plant, unknown to us but observed on other Meiji pieces, is climbing up the trunk and branches of the pine tree. The vine leaves are in Fall colors of red, yellow, and orange. The Osprey stands up and erect with the neck craned forward and the eyes intent on some smaller wild birds flying to the left around the vase. There are small plants growing at the base including narcissus blooms in off-white and several pale hints of pink and green. There are beautiful arabesque borders at the mouth and a geometric border at the foot.The background is a highly polished wireless shining black or very dark midnight blue.
