(SOLD) Massive Tall Highly Detailed Fine Gold and Silver Wire Japanese Golden Age Cloisonné Vase by Ando
(SOLD) A rare gorgeous giant vase with an Ando-style with distinctive wide extended lip having enamel decorations. The vase is in round form with a short neck and flared out mouth and with broad shoulders tapering down straight to a slightly narrower foot.
The design depicts a naturalistic scene and is a panoramic view of a full mature red-trunked maple tree with its leaves just turning to Fall colors. There is amazing silver wire work to shape all of the maple leaves. There is also a smaller cherry tree with Spring white blossoms growing underneath the canopy, but intermingled with the lower branches of, the maple and having a gray colored trunk. No garden flowers grow at the base of the trunks. There are three gold-wired birds - on the maple tree, about a third of the way, and, the other flying off from left to right near the top of the maple. The reverse side is decorated with a small stand of red and white spider chrysanthemum flowers. The background is a highly polished black color. There are cicada-wing lappet borders on the lip and at the foot.
The vase is 12” tall. Unsigned but strongly attributed to the Ando studio. Excellent condition except a for a short craze line near the red chrysanthemum and several scratches (not cracks) elsewhere. Price adjusted accordingly. Stand not included.. Please email us with any questions.
