(SOLD) This is an impressive tall Meiji cloisonné vase that is four sided with square mouth, neck, body and foot. The vase is made of copper with a mottled enamel base and silver rims and gold washed throat plate..
The design is a classic Golden Age design of a tall arching stand of colorful bamboo with a bed of chrysanthemum flowers at the base and five gold wired birds (one on the side). On the reverse is a small stand of bamboo. The background is a shiny mirror black and there are small geometric borders at the base and foot. There are cicada wing-lappet borders at the mouth and foot. There are tiny repeating rows of tin roundels between the cvorgers and the silver rims and these are colored with black enamel
The vase is almost 10” tall. Unsigned but reminiscent of the work of Hayashi Kodenji, and possibly from his workshop. Excellent condition. Please email us with any questions.
