(SOLD) This is a very impressive large Meiji cloisonné vase that is four-sided , square-formed body with rounded, short neck and rounded foot. The corners of the four sides are rounded.. The vase is made of copper with a dark blue mottled enamel base and interior counter-enameling as well as and gold-gilt rims.

The design consists of four panels of two naturalistic scenes of various birds and insects in landscapes on white backgrounds and two blue back ground panels - one with a swirling dragon holding a pearl and the other of a phoenix bird flying amidst stylized cloud forms. The background is a reddish-orange translucent aventurine with goldstone. The four corners and below the panels have pale orange curling vines with dull green flowers. The background above the panels is more red than orange and has many smaller winged dragons flying around the neck

The vase is 12” tall. The sides are s” wide and the vase is 7 1/2” on the diagonal. Unsigned. Excellent condition. The bas has several paper stamps and has a hole in the center. Please email us with any questions.
