Antique Fine Silver Wire Japanese Meiji Cloisonne Vase with Birds of Paradise in a Sakura
This is a very fine silver wire vase from the Meiji Era (1868 - 1912) in round form with baluster shape incurving neck and flared mouth with shoulders tapering down and out and then sharply back into a narrow base and flared out foot. The vase is copper with brass mounts including, rims, throat plate, and base plate.
The vase design depicts a pair of Birds of Paradise on on a highly polished deep midnight-blue background. The birds are perched in the branches of an arching Sakura tree in full bloom with the a reposed trunk and branches hanging from the shoulders of the vase down all sides. At the base of the tree are growing chrysanthemum flowers in purples, lavender, yellow, buff and mushroom colors. There are some bright blue violets growing to the side
The vase is 9 1/2 ” tall. Unsigned. The vase is in excellent condition. Stand not included. Please email us with any questions you may have.
