(SOLD) A striking, shining beautifully sharped translucent Meiji cloisonné vase in round form with wide, trumpet shaped mouth tapering inward to a narrow waist and then out to a wider foot. It is in round form.

The vase partly uses the repousse technique and mounts various shaped silver foil appliqués to the vase. The mounts are formed or encased with various design. over this are a clear enamel layer that shades from deep purple and the top and in the trumpet bell down to a pale lavender ar the foot. The other area is partial ginbari. in this area dragon has been formed in very fine silver wire. Translucent enamels are applied to color the dragon. The dragon has a green body, white and pale green shaded underbelly, red flames, blue horns and feelers, and ochre whiskers. The is a stunning example of a very carefully designed and executed repousse/ginbari vase.

The vase is 6” tall. Singed to the base with the mark of an artist referred to as “no” by Mr. Gary Yoshino in his book “Japanese Cloisonné Enamels.” we have seen this signature on some of the finest ginbarti and repousse pieces we have run across. We have another example of his work on display in our “SOLD” section. It is a 12” long necked vase with wicked melon formed body. This repouuse/ginbari piece is in excellent condition.
