Large Fine Silver Wire Antique Japanese Meiji Cloisonné Vase w/ Wisteria & Pigeons Signed
A fine antique silver wire vase from the Meiji era. The vase is in round form with very high shoulders with a short, wide, double-wall neck construction and with the body tapering down to a straight foot. The vase is copper based with silvered bras mounts and bottom.
The design is of a single wisteria vine which grows from the base with beautiful arabesque curves. There are three colorful pigeons perched or flying around the vine. Large sumptuous clumps of white and purple wisteria blossoms hang from the vine. There are white, purple and red chrysanthemums at the base.
The vase is 10” tall. Signed to the base with the mark of an artist whose identity has not yet been verified. Excellent condition.
