Fine Antique Japanese Meiji Cloisonne Vase w/ Double-Wall neck and Thick & Thin Gold Gilt Wire Manner of Ota Tameshiro
A rare traditional motif designed, gleaming gold, Japanese Meiji cloisonné vase in round form with rounded incurving neck, with double-wall constructions on the neck, at the mouth mouth, and at the foot. The rounded body has broad shoulders tapering down to a narrow based and then flared out to the double-wall foot.
The design is an all-over pattern of abstracted and stylized designs in the manner of Ota Tameshiro. There are a number of fan and scroll shaped cartouches and large chrysanthemum stylized flower heads that either have colors or or laid upon the black background. There are two large scrolls, one the front and the back, one with the depiction of a phenix bird and other with a paulonia plant and flower. There are other random abstract shapes against the black background with tiny whorled gold-gilt cloisonne wires. very thin and very thick gold-gilt wires are used to form the designs. Around the neck and shoulders is a faux draped cloth with the designs of small flower heads. Looking at the photos vase of the diagonal photos of the mouth head-on shows the design of the drape best.
