SOLD) Striking shape and design - a Japanese cloisonne Meiji era vase in round form with high, broad shoulders, a short neck with widely flared out mouth (being almost parallel to the top of the shoulder, with the border at the lip reflecting down on to the shoulder), and tall body tapering straight down to the round base.

The silver wire design depicts a large Osprey eagle in flight across a stand of colorful bamboo. The Osprey has flapping wings and feet tucked in below the body and has subtle strong shading of colors across the back and wings . Around the back there is a short stand of young bright green bamboo. There are beautiful arabesque borders at the mouth and foot. The background is a highly polished wireless shining black or very dark midnight blue.

The vase is 9 1/2”. Signed to the base with the double pitchfork mark (unknown artist). Excellent condition. Stand not included. Kindly email us with any questions.
