(SOLD) A rare traditional motif designed gleaming gold Japanese Meiji cloisonné vase in round, melon form with rounded neck, mouth, and foot. There are eight melon lobes. The rounded neck has a double-wall neck construction.
The design is an all-over pattern of abstract and stylized designs. There are a number of fan and scroll shaped cartouches with large chrysanthemum stylized flower heads and detached feathers wings and swatches of Japanese fabric patterns with random small abstract shapes against a black background with tiny whorled gold-gilt cloisonne wires. very thin and very thick gold-gilt wires are used to form the designs.
The vase is 6” tall. Excellent condition with no damages. Unsigned but strongly attributed to Ota Tameshiro. Please email us with any questions.
