(SOLD) This is a super fine silver wire vase from the Meiji Era (1868 - 1912) in quadrilateral (square -shaped) form with a classic incurving neck and flared square mouth with body tapering down to a narrow base and flared-out square foot. The vase is copper with brass mounts including, rims, throat plate, and base plate.

The vase design depicts a fierce dragon swirling around on on a highly polished black background. The dragon has a brown body with a wrinkled white body shading to yellow near the town of the body. The dragon also has red-orange flames, peach-colored ears, green eyebrows and yellow eyes. There are cicada lappet-wing borders at the mouth and foot, as used on Hayashi Kodenji pieces. Note the detailed wiring on the dragons face, neck and head, and especially the whole way on the body where there are thousands of tiny pieces of wire out down by hand. Sculpted wire is used on the head to define the outline the head and horns.

The vase is 71/2” tall. Unsigned . The vase is in excellent condition fora shallow 1 mm tiny nick on the side, lower neck which is very superfiical . Otherwise, this piece is spectacular! Please email us with any questions you may have.
