A fine silver wire Japanese cloisonné vase in round form with short, straight neck, round mouth , broad shoulders and sides tapering inward to a flared out foot. The design is done in silver wire with gold wire used on the birds. Blue counter enameling is used on the base and the interior. The rims are sterling silver.
The design show two large birds of paradise in a white flowering tree set against a highly polished black background. At the base of the tree chrysanthemums grow. There is a small white flowering tree on the reverse. There is a classic Hayashi Kodenji vining border on the neck and cicada lappet wing lappet borders on the shoulders and just above the flared out foot.
