Beautiful Antique Fine Silver Wire Japanese Meiji Cloisonne Covered Jar w/ Phoenix Birds
A fine Meiji cloisonné covered jar. The jar is in round form with broad shoulders and a rounded body that tapers in and down to a widely flared out foot. There is a matching lid with a round finial.
The design features three phoenix birds flying around the widest part of the jar with their tail feathers plumage streaming around the whole jar. Amidst the Phoenix birds are arabesque vines with purple flowers. There also white and red flowers under one of the birds. There are leafy borders in pale yellow and lavender at the base, top of jar, and on the lid. The background is a deep midnight blue color. The finial is a bright purple, almost appearing as if was translucent enamel. There is a bright red dot at the top of the finial.
