(HOLD) A rare and beautiful vase in sparkling translucent colors and signed by Ota. The vase is in round form with a short curving neck, broad bulbous shoulders tapering gradually inwards and down to a narrow base. The vase is copper with a then sterling silver foil covering (ginbari) with silver wires used to delete the design and translucent enamels used to color the design.

The design is of the goddess Kanon riding on the back of a green dragon over roiling ocean waves. Behind the head of Kanon is a bright round celestial orb (Sun?). Kanon is wearing an outer robe with an all-over stylized cloud design. The dragon has bright red flames.

The vase is almost 10” tall. Excellent condition with no damages such as cracks or hairlines or stress lines or missing enamel. There are several a few manufacturing dark pits on the upper part of the vase, as can be seen on the sun behind Kanon. Price discounted for this manufacturing issue. Signed on the base with the Mark of Ota. Stand not included.
