(SOLD) Rare Fine Silver Wire Antique Double Wall Necked Japanese Meiji Cloisonné Vase Signed "Hayashi School"

(SOLD) A very rare gorgeous vase in round form with double-wall neck construction, slightly rounded body tapering down to a narrow cylindrical foot that repeats the decoration on the double-wall neck.

The design depicts a naturalistic scene with two sleek wild birds flying through a bush or small tree that has white large flowers. At the base of the tree trunk a morning glories and blue and purple grow along with a very small plant with a stalk of small white flowers. The reverse side is decorated with white lilies, orange red narcissus type flowers and a small water plant with multi-colored leaves and a stalk of small white flowers. The background is a strong green-teal color. There is a geometric border on the mouth construction repeated n the foot and an arabesque border beneath the double wall construction. The white flowering bush has leaves with very fine silver wire veins. The flowers are outlined by thicker silver and there is an interesting dark area along the silver that appears to bleed out into the white enamel of the flower petals. The piece uses fine rings of wired enamel rondels as guards in both red and black colors.

The vase is around 8” tall. Pristine condition and in an excellent state of conservation. The vase is signed with a very rare mark. We have seen 3 pieces signed with the mark. in decades of collecting The only source we know that lists this mark is Japanese Cloisonné Enamels, by Mr. Gary Yoshino. Mr. Yoshino indicates the artist is unverified but the kanji character is similar or a precursor to that of Hayashi Kodenji and that the works by each artist have similarities.
