(SOLD) A rare tall, slender fine silver wire antique Meiji vase in round a short wide neck, flared mouth and slender shoulders tapering down to a narrow, round foot. The vase is copper with an applied substrate of thick sterling silver foil and the wires are attached to form the design. The vase is colored with translucent enamels in a process called “ginbari.”

The design depicts large green dragon swirling all around the vase. The dragon also has long red flames that also swirl around the vase. The dragon has yellow eyes with brown horns, manned a white and pale yellow underbelly. The dragon is flying over roiling ocean waves. The background is white.

The vase is 12” tall. The vase is also rare because it is in pristine condition and in an excellent state of conservation with no damages or staining. Many or most translucent piece found today are damaged. Signed to the silvered base with the impressed mark of Kumeno Teitaro. Please contact us with any questions.
