(SOLD) A densely wired and detailed brightly colored Meiji Cloisonne vase in traditional design. The vase is in round form with short neck, widely flared mouth, and shoulders tapering down to a narrow foot. Silver rims and blue enamel base plate and interior.

The design is a traditional one with classic overall form with the main feature of dropped shield or diaper panels with alternating stylized dragons and phoenix birds. The dragons are on a mottled green ground. The dragons have goldstone toned bodies with bright red flames and are holding red flaming pearls. The phoenix shields have a aventurine with goldstone back ground and the phoenix birds are very flamboyantly decorated with bright, frilly plumes. The background of the shield area and the neck are in a mottled red color. There is a wide barber pole border above the shield with alternating background colors of green and beige and all having dense vining designs with bright flowers. There is another wide border on the shoulders with small floral cartouches framed in very thick silver wire. There are cicada lappet-wing borders at the mouth, the base of the neck and at the foot. There area few rows of reporting small wired roundels. The row at the neck and there foot rim are in black enamel with rows in the middle of the designs in red enamel.

The vase is 6” tall. Pristine condition and in an excellent state of conservation. Signed to the base with the wired mark of Hayuashi Kodenji . Please email us with any questions.
