This is a gorgeous Japanese silver wire Meiji cloisonné figural vase circa 1905 by Kumeno Teitaro, one of the Meiji Masters.  The vase is in round form with bulbous body, long neck and body tapering down to a flared out foot.

The design is of two Geisha walking – an adult with purple kimono and a parasol.  The other figure is a child with a bright red kimono   Around them grow violets and the child has a small bunch of violet flowers in her hair.   The construction technique uses a thick sheet of sterling silver foil wrapped around the copper vase and the wires applied. The design is colored by translucent enamels that allow the light to reflect off of the silver and bounce back through the design giving it a glowing effect.   The top of the vase is tinted blue shading to white in the middle and lower part of the vase has glowing lime green color.

The vase is 9” tall.   Signed to the base with the stamped mark of Kumeno Teitaro.   Excellent condition.   Ask all questions before bidding.
