$1,099.99

This is a highly detailed Meiji cloisonné silver wire vase that is packed with a lot of design elements. The vase is six sided with rounded, thin neck and a flared out round mouth. The corners of the sides are sharp and the six panels gradually taper down to a round, flared-out foot. The vase is made of copper with a brass based brass rims and throat plate.

The design goes almost 360 degrees around the vase.features a naturalistic garden scene under the pendulous canopy a large cherry tree in full bloom. The tree spreads out over several panels. Underneath the tree is a woven garden fence in several sections. The fence has a decorative border at the top. On the front panel there i a hen on top of the garden fence with a rooster on the ground below. The detail on the rooster is very detailed with the outline of the rooster’s form in heavy sculpted silver wire and the feathering done in very fine silver wire. Beside the fence are many growing flowers, primarily chrysanthemum but, also, large deep purple and white blossoms of perhaps peony or rose, or a plant unknown to us. The design continues towards the rear and is dominated there by a large stand of Japanese iris plants and flowers. At the base are more chrysanthemums and some low, wetland type plants with small flowers. .There is a beautiful arabesque border at the mouth and a geometric border at the foot. The back ground is a highly polished, wireless midnight-blue.

The vase is 7” tall. Signed on the bottom with with the ”Lotus mark” of Ota Tameshiro. Stand not included.
