This is a rare spectacular vase with a beautiful shape. It has a round bulbous body and long neck. The body is melon formed. Very fine silver wire is used to make this vase.

The design is of a small stream that meanders from the rear of the vase around to the front. Many flowers grow along the banks of the stream, including single flowering hibiscus, many chrysanthemum and a variety of colored gentian flowers. They are set in a wonderful yellow-gold background suggesting a glorious morning or a scene in heaven. On the long neck two detailed ducks are descending to the wetlands. The vase is beautifully shaped and has had a thin sheet sterling silver onto the vase and the wires applied and then the translucent enamels applied.

The vase is signed to the base with the maker of an unknown enamellist. The signature is referred to by Mr. Gary Yoshhino as ‘No,’ by the meaning derived from the mark. We have owned and examined many pieces of this artist and he consistently produced fine translucent enamels including repousse pieces. The vase is 12” tall. It is in excellent antique condition with one small nick near the mouth.
