Striking Japanese Meiji Cloisonne Vase attributed to Namikawa Sosouke et al w/rooster and Chicken Amid Mums

Beautiful striking Meiji Cloisonné vase in quadrilateral (four-sided) form with a rounded elongated neck, flared out square mouth with wide shoulders tapering roundedly down to a round and flared-foot. The vase is copper with brass mounts including, rims, throat plate, and base plate.

The design is a visually striking and graphic treatment of the rooster and chicken theme primarily done with strong chiraroscoro elements and the use of large black enamel dots of emphasis. There also appear to be open rounded pits on the rooster’s comb. These appear to look as if they might be large firing pits, but, they are not, and are made intentionally here for visual emphasis. The rooster, especially, is colored brightly in reds, oranges, yellow, greens and pale blue. They are set among a few scattered chrysanthemum plants and flowers.Tokyo Wireless School.

The vase is 9 1/2” tall. Unisgned but foully attributable to Namikawa Sosouke and/or the Tokyo Wireless SchoolT. he vase is in excellent antique condition. Stand not included.
