$0.00

(SOLD) This is a fine antique silver wire prey/predator vase from the Meiji era in round form with broad shoulders and tapering body. and short neck and slightly flared mouth. The vase is copper with brass rims, throat plate and base plate.

The design is of a stand-off between a large impressive white Osprey eagle perched on a jagged moss-covered rock and a fierce dragon below in a tempestuous sea with roiling waves and flying sea foam. The eagle has both wings flapping as the dragon is attempting to crawl up onto the rock. Very fine wire work is used to draw the eagle and the dragon has beautifully curved whiskers done in sculpted wire.

The vase is 7 inches tall and 3 3/4” tall. The vase is unsigned. Excellent condition except for a crack that is 1 1/4” long above the water to the left of the dragon . it is difficult to see in the photographs but can be felt. There are several short craze lines there, also but they cannot be felt. WE do not apologize for the condition this outstanding piece but have lowered the price, accordingly.
