SOLD) A fine antique gold and silver wire vase from the Meiji era with gold wire butterflies. The vase is in round form with squat body, very broad shoulders and tapering body. The neck area incorporates double wall neck construction.
The design is of masses of various varieties of chrysanthemum flowers against a black background and growing from the base and spreading up the front and reaching over the broad shoulders. On the reverse is a small stand of chrysanthemums. Arabesque borders to under the double wall neck and at the base and the neck is decorated with all-over white flowers against a background of tightly whorled cloisons.
The vase is 5” tall. Unsigned. Excellent condition. Stand not included in the sale.
