(SOLD) This vase has a beautiful shape and composition. The vase is in round form with baluster outline and a long neck with very flared-out mouth and flared-out foot. It has a copper vase covered with highly polished enamels on the outline and dark blue enamel on the interior. and with a smooth metal basse.
The design The design depicts a naturalistic scene with two pigeons perched on a bough of a Sakura tree in Spring time with buds of new flowers just opening up with pink and red and white colors. One pigeon is black and white and the other is very colorful. The composition of the tree branches arched and splaying across the vase is very well done. Silver wire is sparingly used to form the outlines of the birds with wirelss application of colors..
The vase is 12” tall. Unsigned but the piece is strongly e attributed to Namikawa Sosouke and/or the Shippo Kaisha school of Tokyo . Excellent condition. Stand not included. Please contact us with questions or more photos
