(SOLD) A very rare and finely wired Meiji vase in melon-form with six lobes and six panels. The panels depict naturalistic scenes with flowers and birds. There is tremendous detail with a lot of tiny little flowers. One panel depicts a wisteria vine with lavender and white clumps of hanging flowers with Japanese iris and red chrysanthemum. Look closely and you can see the wild bird in the wisteria leaves. Another depicts purple white and blue hydrangea flowers with red and white chrysanthemum. Yet another has a tall white flowering tree with a wild bird and with blue lilies and red and dark purple chrysanthemums. Behind the panels is a black background. There are elaborate borders at the neck, shoulders and foot.

The vase is 7” tall. Signed to the base with the mark of an unidentified mark, known as the “double pitchfork mark.” Excellent condition. Stand not included. Please use the “contact” button if you have any questions.
